Which Instruments do we teach?
UKULELE
The Ukulele is a great way for under 7's to start learning a stringed instrument. Lessons start from Year 1 school age through to adulthood and we offer group and 1:1 lessons. Our specialist Ukulele teachers deliver individual, group lessons & regular workshops. You don't need your own instrument to start lessons.
GUITAR
We offer Acoustic and Electric guitar lessons from Year 2 through to adulthood. Lessons are tailored to the individual and can be adapted to whichever style you enjoy the most. You can learn for fun or work towards RockSchool exams which are held in Southend. You don't have to start with an idea of which road you want to take with the lessons but you can decide as you go along. We have a room dedicated to guitar lessons which can cater for individual, semi private or group lessons. Semi private lessons work if there are two siblings, child and parent or two or more friends wanting to learn at the same time. You don't need your own instrument to start lessons.
PIANO & KEYBOARD
These lessons start from the Age of 3 through to retirement. For Pre School lessons please visit our Tiny Fingers Page.
We have 4 different digital pianos some of which have USB ports meaning backing tracks can be played through them to play along with and we have 1 acoustic piano. Whatever you was to achieve from your lessons we will work towards whether it's just to play for fun, to learn classical music, modern music or to work towards exams. We use the Trinity College London and the Associate Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examination boards which have centers in Maldon, Chelmsford & Southend all of which are local to us in Woodham Walter.
Individual and group lessons are offered. With our digital pianos we can teach up to 4 clients in the same hours session still catering for each as an individual. We use headphones for this so only one person is playing out loud at one time to the teacher while the others are practicing with their headphones on. Group lessons are particularly good for anyone working towards exams, it gives the teacher time to work on practicing techniques to help you out at home.
CLARINET
We take on students from the age of 6 for Clarinet due to hand size and amount of 'puff' needed. Advice for which make of instrument to invest in to suit the individual is offered.
Individual, semi private and group lessons are available and up to retirement age and exam work is also offered for those that want to take that direction.
MUSIC THEORY
We include Music theory in all our practical lessons but it is also taught as a subject in it's own right. Theory grades have to be taken to support the higher practical grades so it's good to start them early. It can also help with GCSE & A Level study too. Again these lessons can be taken as individual, semi private or groups depending on demand.
